Disclaimer

I appreciate the fact that I have 2 followers (HELLO!) so I must apologize that I NEVER UPDATE!

I started this blog as a way for me to keep my sanity in my first year as a part time law student, but, it turns out that I have even LESS free time than I imagined, so the blog has been neglgected.

I am very much looking forward to the holidays and time to relax, spend time with my husband, family, friends and dog....and update my blog more often.

Stay tuned.

Did I mention that I survived mid terms and PASSED EVERYTHING? WOO HOO!

Dear Khloe Kardashian:

WTF.

You got married after a month?

I wasn't even sure if my now husband was even date-able after a month. I LOVE YOU HUSBAND!

And why does People keep sending me e-mails about your marriage?

I wish you the best of luck but look forward to the news story of your divorce.

Have fun with your husband's baby momma's, also!

I AM HATEFUL!

Neglect

I'm sitting in the lobby of the Econo Lodge in Bloomsburg, PA...as this is the only place in the entire hotel where I can get a internet signal. FAIL.

This month has been extremely busy with work and school. My latest challenge is writing a memo on the fair use doctrine of the US Copyright Act. I've been working on it for a little over a week and I've been having my doubts. This is the 2nd weekend, since the assignment, that I've been out of town, thus being in an Econo Lodge in PA this weekend. My time to work on the weekends has been swallowed up.

You see...in the law school...you teach yourself how to do things. It's not like undergrad where you are lectured to and then regurgitate the material on an exam. You are given a BRIEF explanation of legal research and VOILA!!!...you need to write a memo. Wish me luck.

I still haven't watched the VMA's and my DVR at home is about 30% full. I'm relieved to find out that one of the shows I have yet to watch, The Beautiful Life, has already been cancelled. DELETE.

I was able to watch "Cougar Town" and "Glee" this week and I've really enjoyed both shows. Unfortunately, I haven't yet had time to watch my favorites, Law & Order, Grey's Anatomy & CSI. Plus, I have neglected Project Runway...NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON IN THAT SHOW RIGHT NOW! I find the Fall TV season to be very interesting and I've decided to not get as involved in new shows, as some of my favorites (Eli Stone, Cashmere Mafia, Big Shots, Lipstick Jungle, Back To You) were all CANCELLED!!!

I'm looking forward to next weekend. My plans: homework & TV catch up. Homework first of course! Riiight...

Thanks to Google Reader, I'm stil able to keep up with my blogs and general news.

Can we please discuss how much this angers me? That child does not belong!!

I Will Survive

I realize that the whole point of having a blog and having people consistently read it is to post! I am trying to be better about that.

My schedule these days involves working from 8:15 to 4:30, schlepping to school, having class until 9:30 and coming home to the husband and dog. Most days, I go right to bed or try to do some homework of pop in a TV on DVD. This week...Will & Grace.

I had a great birthday celebrating with my closest friends. We went to dinner and went dancing. We shut the bar down, if you can believe it. I used to see my friends at least once a week during the week, but because of school, I haven't been able to see them except on weekends.

One of my good friends gave me the cutest gift: a "Law School Survival Kit" complete with "Law School for Dummies", a bottle of headache medicine ("Law School Aderral") and several airplane bottles of vodka taped to small bottles of cranberry juice. I really enjoy creative gifts.

So far, I have not broken in to the vodka/cranberry juice, but the "Aderral" has been used a few times.

All I can say is thank goodness for coffee.

Have I also mentioned how little money I'm spending now that I'm in school? I haven't been clothes shopping in weeks.

26

Today marks the end of my 2nd week of law school and my 26th birthday.

Husband surprised me and took the day off and took me to lunch. It was lovely.

Since I've been out of touch all week, I shall report later on this week's happenings.

First Week

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I made it through my first week of law school. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't incredibly difficult, either.

So far, I am really enjoying the courses and the professors. Law school has this reputation for having stuffy, old, cranky professors. Actually, my professors are closer to my age.

As far as homework goes, I don't get home from school until 10 P.M. By that time, I am fried and head straight to bed. Getting enough sleep, for me, is key to surviving my hectic schedule. I would rather spend my lunch break reading, which I have done twice this week, than miss sleep. Lack of sleep = sick!

I was excited to leave work Friday and come straight home. I relaxed, caught up on a week's worth of TV and slept in, a whopping 50 minutes, on Saturday.

This is going to be a challenge, but I think I can do it.

Bad Programming

A dear friend of mine (who is also going back to school this fall) and I have run into a predicament. We are both the ones who "take care of" our households. We pretty much do everything that needs to be done (laundry, grocery shopping, errands, cleaning). With both of us going back to school, our time to do these things will be severely limited and we are going to rely on our significant others to do a lot more.

We have both come to the conclusion that men (well at least ours) don't see the importance of certain things like thoroughly cleaning a bathroom or hanging up/putting up dirty laundry. They don't automatically understand that these things necessarily need to get done. It's not that they don't care...there are just different priorities for men. My frend and I blame...GENETICS. Are women just programmed to do these particular things or are we (my friend and I) just control freaks who just need to relax?

For Reals

I recently became the proud parent of a 12 lb child.

Here is my child:

I have orientation for law school tomorrow and I start class on Monday which means that my summer is officially over. There were a few things I wanted to accomplish this summer before school started:

1. Read "The Twilight Saga." CHECK
2. Get crazy, stinking 20 year old drunk. CHECK (last weekend---took 2 days to recover)
3. Take a few trips with the husband. CHECK
4. Clean out my closet. CHECK

Quite a list, huh?

Husband and I went outlet shopping today and I managed to get a giant but sturdy tote bag for school at J. Crew. Husband actually picked it out.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day! Wish me luck.

Everybody On The Whole Cell Block...

After what I call a "20 year old weekend," I dressed for work this morning not realizing what my outfit looked like.

A nice lady at Subway told me my outfit resembled Elvis's costume from "Jailhouse Rock." What do we think?

In other outfit news, check out my outfit for an 80s party I attended last week. The most expensive thing was the sunglasses -- $15.

Who gonna check me, boo?

Ok...I don't even know what language this blog post title is. I just heard the words uttered from Sheree Whitfield's mouth on Real Housewives of Atlanta. I don't even know what that even means.

This week has been insanely busy. I'm having a party tomorrow night and I've had dinner events the past 2 evenings which have kept me out late.

Thankfully, I have an understanding husband who helped me run some errands and get stuff ready for the party. I sometimes *forget* to ask for help and forget that I have a husband who would never say no to helping me if I asked or in this case, volunteered.

A lot of my friends (and bloggers I follow) just took the bar exam this week. I haven't even started law school yet and I dread the bar.

In other funny news, I have homework for orientation for law school. I have to read an article "How To Read A Legal Opinion." Turns out, an attorney friend of mine who came into town this week KNOWS THE AUTHOR OR THE ARTICLE. I have no words.

Tot Casserole

Today was a rare occasion...Husband was home in time to eat dinner at a reasonable hour and allow me time on the treadmill and time to finish up my loan stuff for school.

Tonight I prepared husband's favorite, Tator Tot Casserole. It's actually a Weight Watchers recipe. Anyone want? Leave a comment.

I know it doesn't look to great (cell phone camera), but it's delicious.

Mentioning school...I have homework FOR ORIENTATION. And so it begins.

Hoarding

It came to my attention the other day that I really need to de clutter my life. While putting away some laundry the other day, I noticed that I still had a bag in my closet that I used when in high school. It was (using past tense as it was donated to Goodwill) a small Abercrombie tote bag that looked like it had been run over by a truck. I've been out of high school for 8 years now...and I probably haven't used the bag since. Question is...why do I still have it?

In a random act, I massively overhauled my closet. I have 1 large trash bag of stuff to take to Goodwill, a few things to try and sell back and a whole laundry basket full of purses that I no longer use.

I don't have a very large closet. This is major.

It also came to my attention while watching Obsessed that I was a borderline hoarder. I had shoes not worn in years taking up room in my closet while my wedding dress was in a box in the floor.

So the closet has been de cluttered. Let's keep it that way.

A Few Things

Since I joined Weight Watchers in August 2007, I've gotten into the habit of eating the SAME STUFF all the time and forgetting about certain foods I loved pre-Weight Watchers. One of those foods being--- TEDDY GRAHAMS! More recently, it was pasta salad.

My sister came to visit husband and I last night and had a bag of teddys. How could I have forgotten about this scrumptious, lovely treat. I purchased some at the store today. I went to the store to buy a few things and ended up spending $80. WTF.

In other news, no more Jon Gosselin People. This week--Robert Pattinson.

Photobucket

In other other news , Leann Rimes and her dancer husband apparently have been seperated. It amuses me the PR statements celebrities release when they get seperated or divorce...like "they remain good friends" or the newest, "they are trying to work through their relationship."

Seriously...if I got divorced, those vague, recycled terms simply would not do. My peeps would want the juicy details and they probably wouldn't by the whole "remaining friends" BS. I'm just saying.

In other other other news , KGoss (that's what I'm calling Kate Gosselin now) took of her wedding ring. Good for you homegirl.

Team Kate

I very much look forward to getting my People magainze every Friday. Lately it's been coming on Saturday (UNACCEPTABLE). I have a routine of always working on the crossword Friday nights. Yeah, it's dorky, but who cares. I've been known to finish a crossword in 10 minutes. This past week's cover featured none other than Jon Gosselin. I must say, I was an original member of Team Jon, but lately I've moved sides. Although I don't know Jon or Kate personally and I only see what's on TV, based on that alone, I've switched to Team Kate. I became a child of divorce at 25 years old. I get it, Jon, but now is not the time to go galavanting around Cannes or whatever with your 20 year old girlfriend and your Ed Hardy gear. You look like an idiot and I am tired of hearing about you and you are embarassing your children.

Hey. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, right? Personally, if you can go on TV and/or be photographed publically, you should accept criticism of how you live your life.

Ok enough Gosselin talk.

In other news, this video has been floating around and I wanted to post because it really puts me in a great mood. I wish I had been smooth enough to pull this off at my wedding. Our recessional was to "My Best Friend" by Queen. I think that was the best I could do.

Financial Aid?

Maybe it was the lack of sleep the night before or the fact of the early hour of my meeting, BUT I met with my law school's financial aid person Monday morning. I walked into the meeting thinking I would get some kind of "aid" to go along with my loans but no...I was given a sheet of paper confirming the amount of "loans" I was being allowed to take out. Aid? YAY? Such an idiot.

Where's Laura?

Why has there been no post since May 31st? No idea. Seriously.

I must say my summer of fun before school begins in the fall has been busier than ever. Not in the fun way to say the least but there have been some fun outings, so not all is lost. I kick myself now for taking 2 small trips in March and then blowing the rest of my dough on home improvements. DOH!

My department at work, comprised of 3 people, has now been condensed to 2 until January 2010. Which means that 1/3 of work not getting done is on mine and my co workers hands. So much for a relaxing summer at the office! I hope to make the most of my last few weeks of "freedom" as I say.

On the flipside, I am so thankful to be employed and I am thankful that my husband is employed, given the economy, and the fact that his line of work is considered a "luxury item" and not necessarily a necessity, he is constantly busy.

New Directions

So...it finally happened. I got accepted to law school! Come this fall, I will be working full time during the day and going to school at night. Now, this blog will have some direction...it will document my life as a wife, full time worker, and first year law student. Ugh...I can already sense the sleep deprivation.

Introduction

So...who am I? (People who know me can skip this section)

Aside from what's over there (----->), I'm 25 and have been married for a little over 6 months. I had planned to blog throughout my wedding planning, but that never happened. I was too busy doing everything myself. I took on most of the planning and *forgot* to ask others for help. Shame on me for being independent minded.

I married my best friend and companion of about 5 years on November 15, 2008. We have a very good relationship, depsite having absolutely nothing in common and each coming from very different family backgrounds. We live in a 2 bedroom condo with our puggle, Frank Sinatra. Husband ("C") works in the service industry and work in the legal department of an insurance company. Our jobs are very diffrent, yet quite similar.

My parents recently got divorced after 26 years of marriage. They still remain friends and support me fully.

I recently applied to law school (on March 15th) and still am waiting to hear if I got in. If I do, classes will start for me on August 17th at night (yeah...I kinda need to know if I got in like NOW). I come from a legal family and have 1 younger sister. She is an accountant. One of us was destined to be a lawyer. It's in our genes. As far as the blog title, a favorite courtroom saying.

I am a member of Weight Watchers and have lost around 35 pounds. I am not a strict dieter but I am conscious of what I eat and have a goal to lose around 40 more pounds, but I'm in no hurry.

I recently quit smoking (January) after about 7 years and have replaced nicotine with coffee (hey--it's still cheaper than cigarettes). I'm not much of a fashionista, but I will post fabulous finds. When it comes to purses, I'm a label whore. What can I say.

That's about it. Enjoy the blog.

Starting Over

I'm starting my blog over again. I changed the name so I could speak freely without my identity being exposed. Of course if you know me and are reading the blog, that's fine too and there's a picture of me right over there (----->) but I would like to keep some semblance of privacy. Just don't OUT me. People are nuts!
